It would appear that the AJAX UpdatePanels screw with the Uploader control.

If you take the example documentation, and simply add the following text, the page will no longer operate:
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"></asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

Hi mandreko,

The issue with update panels is due to the fact that currently the scripts to initialize the upload are injected in the 'head' of the page. For asp.net ajax UpdatePanel they should be inserted with a new handler on application load (Sys.Application.add_load(handler)). We will try to make a new release as soon as possible to provide more support for Asp.Net Ajax framework.

In the mean time, one possible fix could be the use of an iframe inside your update panel and use the control inside the normal page hosted in that iframe.
